Vinted Members Voice Displeasure About Size Updates
Shoppers are voicing their frustration following a change that caused listings displaying inaccurate size information.
The popular resale platform has altered its measurement guidelines for women's and children's garments but did not contact all shoppers about the modification.
Online Platforms Reaction
Numerous buyers and vendors are expressing on platforms saying Vinted listings now show an altered size classification compared to what was initially listed as a result of the reclassification.
The company said the new system was more in line with similar services.
It has advised users to review their products and update the measurements by hand when needed, resulting in member annoyance.
Sizing System Modifications
Before the change, the sizes had both a single numeric size and a letter, for instance S/8 or M/10.
The revised method features an alphabetical indicator and numerical range for example S/UK 8-10.
With some products, the measurements have been reclassified - for example a size L used to be a 12 but now shows as UK 16-18.
Member Accounts
One content creator, who creates plus-size fashion videos, stated the update "complicates both purchasing and selling".
"Rarely do manufacturers list XL as sizes 20-22," as the platform currently indicates.
Stephanie Gallen, from Glasgow, explained products she uploaded featuring size 14 markings were displaying on the service as size 20–22.
"If buyers measuring 20-22 acquire them they will likely be quite upset," she stated.
Required Changes
A different user, based in Derby, explained she became annoyed by the change as she had to manually change the sizing for "all her products".
"For me this is particularly frustrating, since I have chronic health issues and selling on Vinted has been paramount after experiencing income reduction," she stated.
Platform Context
The service features exceeding 100 million users, comprising 18 million UK members.
It has become a favored option versus similar marketplaces including eBay and Depop.
This isn't the first time that an unexpected update within the service has received backlash: last year, the platform withdrew an update to its shipping options following member complaints.
